Subject: The Writers’ Coalition Program
I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season.
For those of you I haven’t talked to in a while – hello.
I am just touching base to update all of you on AFBS’ Writers’ Coalition Program.
Since you have joined us we have expanded in leaps and bounds, what started as 6 writer organizations now exceeds over 50 unions, guilds and other professional organizations in the arts, with a reach of over 250,000 self-employed artists!
And we continue grow.
You are the reason why this has happened and I want to thank every one of you for supporting the programs but more importantly supporting the community.
I have attached the latest updated materials that reflect the latest rates (which have decreased again – keeping us pretty much flat for the past 5 years). If you could please update your sites and/or materials with the new information that would be great.
I wanted to update everyone on the latest news coming from the program – hopefully by the end of the second fiscal quarter we will have a new plan option as part of the WC program.
We are going to have an option that comes in around $70/month for a single person, making it the lowest-priced guaranteed acceptance option available on the market.
No benefits will be removed, it will just be a scaled-back version of what currently exists.
I have spoken to many self-employed artists who told me that price was a barrier for them to access health insurance and that if this was available they would definitely participate. So we will soon be offering two great health insurance options that offer a solution for all self-employed people in the arts! We are really excited about this offering and we hope you are too.
On that note, I just wanted to let you know that I will be contacting you individually shortly but if you have any questions or if you would like to talk I would love to have a conversation.
Also, for those of you who may not have been keeping track we have added the following benefits to the coverage over the past 2 years:
- Travel Emergency Medical
- The Member and Family Assistance Program (an EAP type of product)
- Life insurance
- AD&D insurance
Talk to you soon.
