Heritage Canada grants drop $36M

From September 29, 2011 Ottawa Citizen

According to a spending database run by the parliamentary budget officer, grant spending from April to June this year at Heritage Canada has dropped by $36 million. Heritage promotes Canadian arts and culture. A spokesman for Heritage Minister James Moore said this has happened because fewer grants and contributions have been approved this year, compared to the same period in 2010.

Spending at the Museum of Nature was down more than $2 million – nearly 30 percent – from the previous year, while the Museum of Civilization dropped its expenditures by 45 percent or $10.6 million.
